Oma's Gruenesauce

Green Sauce with Potatoes
1 cup of sour cream
1 cup of cream
1/2 cup of yogurt
1 teaspoon of vinegar
salt and pepper to taste
a pinch of sugar
1/2 cup of chives
4-6 hard boiled eggs chopped
In a large mixing bowl mix all ingredients and serve over warm boiled potatoes. You can add additional herbs if you like, but this is the recipe my family uses. Enjoy!



Hi! Hope you had a nice weekend. We did! Saturday we hung by the pool, and Sunday after church we watched the final of the World Cup. Anyway, I think my husband misses Germany because he has been asking me to make some of the recipes he grew up eating. I think my oldest son misses Germany too because he asked me if I could only make German recipes. This weekend I made Gruene sauce which I guess is typically made the Thursday before Easter. I did some research on the recipe and I guess it was one of Goethe favorite recipes. No one knows exactly where the recipe originated from, but it is a specialty of Frankfurt/Hesse region. My oldest son and I didn't think we would like the recipe, but we loved it! It is kind of like eating warm potato salad.
