Today's offering from Letters of Note concerns the British playwright extraordinaire Harold Pinter.
After
The Birthday Party opened on Broadway in 1967, Pinter received a short letter from a lady who asked if he could explain several small details about the play. Pinter send her a typically curt and darkly witty response, which you can find

Pinter's work has left a lasting impact on cinema. He wrote the screenplays for such works as
